Saxon Crow

Farmer\'s Lament

Up every day

Come wind, rain or shine

I\'ve seen beautiful dawns

Seen nature rise

I\'ve tended the land

Given love to my stock

I\'ve spilt tears and blood

And watched it all grow

But I\'ve heard the stories

Of what you think of me

That I don\'t care

The damage I don\'t see

I always plead poverty

I rape the land

I poison the wildlife

I destroy what I can

So ignorant!

If only you knew

The good that I do

To provide for you all

I\'m judged by what is necessary

To keep you alive

I\'d like to see you plough fields

Dead into the night.

Or have a sheep killed in front of a lamb

Because a dog was let loose from an owner\'s hand

Or worry that crops won\'t grow on time

Because nature runs her own clock

And doesn\'t run mine

Without my aid nature would never thrive

Because there\'s more that I do to keep her alive

So next time you want something spare a thought for me

And actually think kindly you ignorant breed
