Daniel McDonagh

Your Mother’s Door

I will dance in the darkness without candlelight

I will dance through the dust that sprawls on the floor,

I will dance until dawn with you in my arms

Then lead you home to your mother’s door.

I will kiss you when all we have is the rain

Or by the soft blue waters of the Tyrrhenian shore

I will kiss you when the stars shine on our silhouettes

Then walk upon a path to your mother’s door.

I will love you for as long as the moon rests in the sky

I will love you either if we are rich or poor

I will take your love to unreachable heights

Then run the miles back to your mother’s door.

I will walk the oceans to regain our love

That was once lost but is now restored.

We can reminisce now of our youthful days

When we courted outside your mother’s door.
