Vulnerability

Pride

Man’s greatest sin

One of mine

‘Cry!’ You tell me, ‘Why won’t you cry?’

Because I refuse to let you see me cry

Yes, I have pride

Yes, it is great folly

Yet sometimes, it is all I have

And it saves me from vulnerability

And so you call me ‘cold-hearted’

Because you don’t try to understand

Why

And when I do cry,

Later, into the night,

I’ll muffle it

Because deep down,

I want you to walk in

And tell me it\'s alright

And hold me really tight

The way you should have

When I messed up

And I just wanted comfort

Not conflict

But if you just hold me

Right now

And tell me ‘it’s alright\'

Then,

And only then,

Will I let you see me cry
