Saxon Crow

Last Journey?

Floating along this meandering river

Bobbing up and down with the rippling tides

Just following it\'s course with no conscious effort

Watching the world as I drift by

The sun shines down in mirrored obscurity

Never seeing the reflection of what might be

And here I drift immersed in this comfort

Womb like, unasking, free

The water caresses the land so gently

Tickling with playful glee

While I flow on in peaceful contentment

Out to the deepening sea

The flame from the sun

Is slowly extinguished

Onward I ever go

Until this realm of land and sea

Is no longer a place called home

And so I float on through a sea of stars

On a tide familiar but unknown

Then in a lifetime or the birth of a moment

I come to a shore I can call my own

Never have I felt such safe comfort

Or a bliss that touches my soul

And as I step onto this beautiful land

My body fades and goes

And all that\'s left and will ever be

Follows a river out to a sea

And steers toward a final horizon

Neverending, alive and free
