ROMEO and JULIET TWO TURTLE DOVES

She wore a ring around her neck            she was a dove  of a certain  kind          she wore it as her symbol showing off the rare  design                                          she had a special way of spreading out her wings  and ruffling out her feathers with the joy of welcoming spring           he was watching her and he recognised her they had mated together before so he flew to her side making the most of his chance touching beaks many times to renew their romance                                         They took flight in the air with skills long shared    Their freedom to fly was a joy    I was privileged to see them  so I watched every day                             They made love many times,  it was a game that they played     Uninhabited  they exhibited the nature of love   being United was the objective of two turtle doves.                 He brought her flowers, he brought her twigs and petals for their nest         His selection  was impeccable he only brought her the best.                      In the heat of the sun and the wind and the rain she remained on her nest day and night.  She nestled with pride protecting  her eggs so I watched with a curious delight.       I saw how they shared and cared for their brood so their timing together was timed to be right.               In miniature size that was how they arrived,  hatching free from the eggs the fledglings  survived,        Life giving life a gift unexplained, a mystery unsolved  making mating a game.          Nurturing and encouraging the fledglings grew and thrived  then one day they stretched their wings and  learned the skill to fly.                               Romeo and Juliet  two names that can describe                                                      Two turtle doves at play flying high       A romance played out in the skies.
