Becoming A Woman

“I have to steer clear of
noticing white girls,”
C.J. reminded.
He never used his
white only voice with Lester.
Against the moon on the porch upstairs,
they could see Becky’s silhouette.
“Why are you sneaking?”
“Ain’t my choice,
Becky’s dad wants her
in her wedding bed all pure and all,
and she’s tired of waiting.”
Smiling, C.J. chuckled.
