Tune: Winchester New
(\'On Jordan\'s bank the Baptist\'s cry\')
Matthew 16 v.21-23
********
Then Jesus did begin to show
To His disciples, they would know
How unto Jerusalem He
Must go in His destiny, see
That He would suffer many things
But his work it salvation brings
Suffer of elder and chief priests
And scribes, and be set as the least
And be killed, and be raised third day
These things He did unto them say
But Peter did Him then rebuke
Said, No, Lord, this is mere a fluke
Be it far from you, this shall not
Be so unto you, not your lot
But Jesus said to Peter, Get
Behind me, Satan, for not yet
Not yet have you understood here
Your thoughts to human ways do steer
You are an offence unto me
Saying the cross-way shall not be
You are not mindful of the things
That God in His plan, wisdom brings
Bu you think on things of men, they
No compatible with God\'s way
