You

You taught me that love was destructive, that it annihilates in the same breath it creates life

And that I was willing to destroy myself for love.

Or more so, destroy myself for your love.

I find myself trapped in the paradox of you

Crushing beautiful daffodils with the hands that once plucked them so tenderly

Remembering home can be a temporary haven for the belief of false permanence

Comforted by how you were my favorite lie

The way you whisper your sweet songs into deaf ears yet the sound still penetrates

The melody creates the perfect imagery of me and you in my head

Twisting dreaded reality into pretty fantasies
