Through blurred, teary eyes I could barely see
your tiny little body when they brought you to me
I stared at your face and those big brown eyes
I smothered you with kisses as I quietly cried
I stole precious moments to breathe you in
Your vanilla musky scent was intoxicating
Your feather soft skin like heavenly clouds
We will meet again one day I silently vowed
I held your sweet little body so close to mine
My precious baby boy, it was almost time
We were sewn together as one never truly apart
Our souls intertwined sealed our two hearts
Only a few minutes left before they’d take you away
I will never, ever forget the moment, the day
when I gave you to others when you were born
My life forever broken; my heart forever torn
The irony is that this story’s not over
When you got older, you wanted some closure
You decided to meet me when you’d turn twenty-one
I couldn’t believe I’d meet my long-lost son
How sad life can be to some people sometimes
It just makes no sense with no reason or rhyme
With absolutely no warning, just out of the blue
Horrible, horrific things can happen to you
Just after your birthday while making you plans
You were driving to the store in the rain, in a van
Something happened and you lost all control
You were killed that day leaving a great big hole
A dreadful loss for them and for me
They lost a son while I would never meet
The tiny little baby that I held so tight
The day they brought you to me in the middle of the night
