As stars twinkle in the sky
I awake in confusion
My slumber interrupted
To find myself in disillusion
And there the culprit smiles
My Muse working overtime
Burning the midnight oil
Searching that elusive rhyme
Ok, I’m up now
Invested, ’I’m all in
Let’s get to work
Investigate the mysteries within
The day is young
But not say I
As the years have taken toll
I ponder questions of how and why
For I am a curious soul
Always exploring untraveled roads
They say life’s a journey
And onward I must go
With an insatiable companion
My trusty Muse at my side
Ever the silent poet
My driving gears inside
Of which I can’t complain
Many roads I’ve gone before
Here I am again
The threshold of another door
Retirement is taking me
On a new road to follow
My journey ever sweeter
Waiting for me tomorrow
