Saxon Crow

Blackbird in Autumn

As summer wanes for another year

And evensong all but lingers here

Blackbird sings his peaceful tune

An echo of spring times news

The trees grow heavy with their wares

And soon will drop what once was theirs

Followed closely by coloured leaves

Printed reminders of natures scenes

Then autumnal days come at last

Collecting up what has been cast

All efforts grown are put to bed

As summer rests her weary head

Blackbird still sings his dutiful song

Telling us that summer\'s gone

But also to remind us all

That after winter spring time calls

So I listen in comfort as I go walking by

To blackbirds song as it fills the sky

And wrap myself in his soulful tune

Longing for the sound of my spring time muse
