Addiction, My Old Friend

I inhale

Smoke fills my lungs

Entrapping me

Leaving me waiting

Wanting more

I exhale

I see the smoke dance away

It relieves through the air

Sauté, Glisser, Étendre

And finally, it drifts away

I learn to do tricks

I make it jump

Dance for me

Beautifully, dangerously

Beckon me back

I crave it

The inhale

The exhale

The dance

encore

the blade

It shimmers mischievously

I smile at my old friend

“So we meet again” I think

You never left my mind

My thigh will do though,

The forearm is my favorite poison

The blade skims skin, enough for crimson to flow

The blood drips slowly

Silently, down my leg

My dear old friend and I laugh

We talk, reminisce, about the not-so-good good old days

We remember how much fun we had, how much fun I had

We silently live in old memories

We create new ones exactly the same as before

pick up the flower

Smell it

treasure it

Roll it ever so carefully

As if it’s my baby

I part my lips

Inviting paper

As I light green

I watch it burn for a second

Maybe two

I love it

I tell myself as I feel everything fade

I love it

I cannot speak

I love it…right?

inhale and exhale

My old friend

Beautiful colorful floret

I wish I did not adore them so

Addiction is the price to pay for adoration, is it not?
