My best friend in his fur coat
Smiles at me and then I note
His eyes twinkle with mischievous glee
He hears the turning of a key
And Woof! Woof! Woof! He yells at the door.
But in actual danger he’ll crouch to the floor.
A trembling mess, he’s such a wuss
He’s even scared of next doors puss
His strength shines through in different ways
On dreadful, heartbroken, tearful days
He plonks himself against my chest
And loves me hard and helps me rest
He brings a comfort he’ll never know
I hope that he will never go.
My best friend in his fur coat
Smiles at me and then I note…
