Saying Goodbye To Our Queen

We watched the news today and our hearts were filled with dread
Knowing you were leaving us and the countries you have led.

Hoping that you were just sleeping and somehow would pull through.           Praying for good news and thinking of your family too.

Although God has called your name to join the palace up above
Your memory will live on and we hope you feel our love.

Our leader and head of state, who lived a fulfilled life
A mother and a grandmother also a loving devoted wife.

Reunited with your rock where you would want to be
You were always better together and that was clear for all to see.

It seemed you would live forever like you had a superpower
And would always be there somewhere just like a garden flower.

The pain we feel is real and we wonder how we will go on
As we start to mourn our loss and accept that you have gone.

In our prayers and songs, words help to ease the pain
And as we sang to Captain Sir Tom ‘We’ll meet again’.

Those lucky enough to meet you are sharing their stories with pride
We listen to them all and imagine the feelings they have inside.

Balmoral was the place where you did everything you loved to do
From horses to your corgis and maybe a jam sandwich or two.

Meeting for lunch with Paddington showing us your fun side
Then jumping into the Olympics from a helicopter ride.

Trips to London and the palace we’d say give Liz a wave ,she’s in
On the sofa with family at Christmas waiting for your speech to begin.

Watching on the news as you carried out your duty
Admiring all your outfits and gushing over your beauty.

A smile that was so warm with an empathetic tone
Wearing the crown elegantly as you sat upon the throne.

Your words in times of trouble would be spoken with pure grace
There was a comforting familiarity when we could see your face.

Hard working till the end, devoted to your role
Continued to amaze us all, even at 96 years old.

A servant to your people was what you pledged to be
This started on the day of your coronation in 1953.

The crown is handed over and Charles is now our king
God save our gracious Queen we will no longer sing.

We will welcome him as our monarch as he begins his reign
And we will all join together and be Great Britain once again.

Its going to take some time and many of us will shed tears
We haven’t know any different for the past 70 Years.

Queen Elizabeth,Lillibet, Ma’am,our countries number one
Rest in peace now your majesty, thankyou for all that you have done.
