Nigeria Independence Poem by Ajala Taiwo Habeebullah

IN DEPENDENCE?
NIGERIA@ 62

it\'s been-so far- a rocky road
Celebrating thee 7th turbulent decades
Day by day, vegetabled Agony and Deserted Traumas are rode
There in, the pride of a gigantic Nation fades

Naija was once a home of affluence
Too proud to stand for the Blacks as a pride
Alas, now a chaotic home of fluence
A place where corruptions seek and hide

\"Naija\" was a name that brought us high
Around the globe she made us smile
Today it\'s a name we hear and sigh
With the sufferings, we still have to smile

Oh! Naija was once a great Giant
Once a nation with a future bright
Blessed with resources,so sufficient and valiant
Buh only survived those that can fight

Nigeria of today is now a substance of fate and hope
That the sun shall rise again
Alas, we can only cope when we hope
That the plenty pain will turn to gain

It\'s just too bitter to spit
Rhat the win we had in 1960 was a disgraceful grace
Ih, tell me not that we are independently fit
For we can\'t grace the win we race

Naijiria shall someday rise again,
To appreciate her nationals who obeyed thee call
And leave the labours of her heroes\' past not in vain
In order to claim giant of African as a stand again.
