Buglet

Moonlit Murders

As you rush towards me,
your teeth bared and your hands outstretched.
A silver knife catches in the hazy light that the moon gives.
You are so close your arms wrapped around my torso,
your breath fanning over me.
Suddenly you are calm,
you are not angry or vengeful.
Your face is smooth,
all the lines gone.
You look younger,
just like the day we met.
You look at me and break into a grin,
laughing,
not your soft laugh,
not the one you gave me when I said I loved you.
No,
this laugh is sinister,
and shivers run down my spine
your voice ricochets through my brain.
Your arm swings back,
and you punch me in the stomach.
All the breath that was left has fled.
I gasp,
looking for you,
but you\'re gone.
Now you\'re just a whisper
of the smile I once adored.
The ground unfocuses and focuses in turn.
\'i\'m so scared, \' I think,
\'where are you, \' I keep thinking.
I clutch my stomach and slowly sway,
but it\'s when I look at my blood-stained hands,
I can feel the heat spread through my body
as I sob at the pain racing through me.
I cry out as my mind catches up to my body,
as the pain spreads.
I\'m crying to the sky,
begging for someone to help.
I land on my knees
and try to stop the cries from escaping.
The scent of rust fills my mind,
Your words are repeated in my thoughts
over and over again until all I can do is scream
in a vain attempt to ease the pain.
Blood seeps through the hand that\'s clutched to my side,
staining my shirt and pants,
until the ground below me is a sea of crimson.
I cry out as another shudder of pain wracks my body,
my heart is pounding and blood spills out from my stomach.
I can hear footsteps approaching,
sirens racing,
tires squealing,
shouts of horror.
They fill my mind
The overwhelming fear rips through my body.
It\'s hot,
it\'s so hot.
I\'m drowning in the searing pain,
it\'s burning me alive but no one can seem to see it.
It\'s piercing me worse than the knife
Making my mind fuzz out with pain.
I cough and blood rips through my lips.
I\'m dying,
I know it.
I give one last sob before my world fades to black.
Your smile,
your laugh,
your touch,
your words running through my mind once more.
Even though it was you who hurt me,
I saw it from a mile away and welcomed it.
I loved you and that\'s what truly killed me.
