Starbucks

I sat down in Starbucks today.
All I could think of was the last time I sat there.
It was when you were still just a text away.
When I could look forward to seeing you again.

I sat down in Starbucks today.
I bought a venti matcha tea.
It was one of your favorite drinks
But now I must enjoy it alone
There\'s nobody with me in the booth

I sat down in Starbucks today.
I pulled out my laptop to try writing a song about tomorrow
But all I could think about were countless yesterdays
So I wrote about those instead

I sat down in Starbucks today.
I sat in the corner by a window, looking out at everyone
Nobody ever noticed me
Not much different than time with you, honestly.

I sat down in Starbucks today.
The matcha tasted sweet like your embrace
Bitter like your departure
It was green like the envy that consumed me

I sat down in Starbucks today.
So many people within a small physical space
But all of them infinitely distanced emotionally
Each of them, a discrete point in the universe

I sat down in Starbucks today.
And I acted like that time there was different.
Like that time there was worse than normal.
But it was a typical moment of my day.
