TAXES

You pay a percentage of many things

Be it your income, property, or your purchase of rings

The government spends this money to function

On things like social services and road junctions

Taxes; it’s a complex issue

Sometimes it makes you so sad that you have to grab a tissue

It can be annoying, but the government needs it

To do things that seem boring but are not needless

Sometimes your income, sometimes your house

Sometimes your burgers, sometimes your dead spouse

Sometimes your crib, sometimes your new mouse

You pay a percentage of the price of the blouse

The government gets it and spends it on important things

Like giving firefighters their hoses and bling

You pay a percentage of many things

Be it your income, property, or your purchase of rings

The government spends this money to function

On things like social services and road junctions

When taxes aren’t enough, they borrow to make it up

And use new taxes to pay the interest on that stuff

Some politicians may promise less taxes

But all that is just lies they pull out of their a**es

If you don’t pay your taxes, you’ll go to jail

And they’ll spend other people’s taxes to make sure you pay bail

At the end of the day, this is all a house of cards

Based around trust of the government and fear of its guards

In essence, pay your taxes, there’s no way around it

And as ol’ Ben Franklin said, it’s just death, death, and taxes.
