Family Tree
Standing tall, against the sky
Stood the lonely Tree
Under old stars
Tree small and supple
Was circled by others
Heading their own direction
Tangled tendrils
Scratched then scarred
Sorely riven, Tree prevailed
Longing for light
Spreading its mantle
Tree tightened its roots
Compassionate leaves fell
On indifferent ground
The others grew stunted
But Tree’s sap rose
Resolute and reaching
For the heavens
On flitting wind
Nature’s network
Gently seeded the ground
With a new blossoming
Standing strong, against the sky
Canopy to canopy, was Tree
Heartbeat to heartbeat
Hallelujah,
And hallelujah
Tree, Said me
