Forbidden Fruit

Love should be a forbidden fruit,
for its based on slippery notions,
as sooner or later we slip and fall.
It’s an anchor that weighs one down,
and rarely allows one to escape,
without pain and shame.
Knowing this, we still fall
prey to its magnetism,
whether willingly or unwittingly,
whereas,
no one falls for its nemesis the same way.
