A shot rang out
November 22, 1963
The shock wave around the world
A day burned into memory
The man behind the trigger
You know who you are
The life you took
Your heart’s guilty scar
Your day will come
If you’re still of this Earth
And if not then
God knows your worth
What you stole from
This man, husband and father
His wife, children and family
A nation mourning another
Fifty-nine years of secrecy
Somebody knows the truth
Eventually we’ll all know
From a dedicated sleuth
The good that could have come
Had it not been for your bullet
The dreams that were lost
Swallowed by your gullet
I can still remember
The unmistakable sound of those drums
The horses pulling his casket
The look of horror on everyone
As you meet your maker
I’ll spare no sympathy on you
You made your choice
Dwell now with chosen due
