I Met A Griffin As He Prayed

I remember one bright day

I met a Griffin as he prayed

He taught me much of many things

Of Constantines and Saturn’s rings

I remember one grey day

We sought shelter from the rain

I told him then of what could be

Together we’d live to see our Spring

I remember one sweet day

It seemed that things would be okay

We knew at last what we were

Two beings entwined in personhood

I remember one bleak day

The Griffin said I mustn\'t stay

Things were getting out of hand

No time for dreams of promised lands

I remember one dark day

A weeping Griffin turned away

He said the world was much too large

And darkness blighted all the stars

I remember one hateful day

I saw a Griffin\'s wings decay

Oh tell me where his spirit flew

That I may go and join him too

I live now in too-long days

Lesser now my soul does weigh

A shadow now I barely cast

How much longer must I last?

I live now in lonely nights

Yet another gone from sight

Where once were many now are few

Persons silent and subdued
