Driving down to the shops
I had to pass a school,
Struggled to get down the road
As so many cars were there,
Taking the children to school.
It took me back,
Back to my schooldays
When I walked to school,
As did most of my friends.
As we walked down the road
We would meet each other,
Chat and play on our way.,
Sometimes if it rained
I caught the bus.
But I was never driven to school,
We had to make our own way.
Then came the day I got a bicycle
And rode to school,
Not many cars on the road
So cycling to school was easy.
Life is so different now,
With all the cars,
Driving kids to school.
I am sure that I had happier times,
Walking with friends to school.
