do wise men swim against the tide
waves crashing up against their mind
or does the suns glare make them blind
to the safety of land they’ve left behind?
those weary bodies battling waves
currents strong, no one to save
short of breath in open space
but turning back’s another race.
and as time forgets where it began
those inner voices whispering
from who knows where deep down within
there’s only time to sink or swim.
long gone is to question why
that far horizon joins the sky
with all the blue that meets the eye
you took the dive, swim for your life
