Now when Jesus, He was born
In Beth\'lem on Christmas morn
In days of Herod the King
Wise men made their way, did wing
From east to Jerusalem
To view scene serene, solemn
They said, Where is he that is
Born King of Jews? True is this
For we have seen His star in
The east, and we did begin
Our journey from there, and we
Come to worship Him, so be
When Herod these things had heard
He was troubled by their word
As was Jerusalem all
Wondered meaning of this call
That the wise men had known, they
Made their announcement that day
Herod gathered chief priests, scribes
Demanded that they describe
Where Christ should be born, they said
In Beth\'lem there be His stead
As Micah, prophet of old
Declaration had foretold
He said, Bethlehem in land
Of Judah, by God\'s good hand
You are not the least among
Judah\'s princes, praise be sung
For from you a Governor
Shall come, my people\'s Ruler
