More Than Nearly Dearly Departed
A single dawn before
the anticipated
day of her departure ..
He stumbled
upon his own shadow
sifting through
her drawers like some
dark villain
in a cheap B movie ..
Then he noticed
in a broken mirror
that both her
knees were bruised
and bleeding ..
As was her right cheek
and left shoulder
and there, before his
very eyes ..
Part hid, beneath the
rough thrown
sackcloth cover, she
had been
folded up like some
discarded
envelope and left there
all alone to die
