One day I cried
A tear forming in my eye
And catching in my lashes
There was just the one
Which seemed much sadder
Than if my face had been awash
In a flood of salty unhappiness
It seemed such a bother
To wipe away
---after all it was just the one
It was much less than
The wetness
I heard outside
Streaming down the panes
Of my bedroom window
Being pushed aside
By the weight of car tires
Speeding along their way
The kind of wetness
That can knock over telephone poles
Crash through levees
Drown cattle
And wash away cars
What\'s one tear compared to that?
