The worst hard times I guess for our country
Was almost a hundred years ago
What caused this hardship to happen then
The experts still don\'t know
I know, that our forefathers who survived
Had the grit that I fear today we sadly lack
Hard times have been here, and may be coming back
My mother and my dad told me much
About living in such trying times
They learned early the value of a dollar
You could buy something good with a nickel or a dime
The only end to that depression life
Came from a great world war
Many soldiers didn\'t make it home
Many came back with minds forever scarred
Some men became vagabonds and hobos
And lived along railroad tracks
Hard times have been here, and may be coming back
A depression may, to most people
Seem unlikely and so they don\'t prepare
They don\'t believe technology will let it happen
And talk of frugal times gives them a scare
It won\'t do any good in hard times
To play games and try to always win
We\'ll have to forgo many bad habits
And be earnest and sober once again
We will need to pray
For the courage that we lack
Hard times have been here, and may be coming back
We must become humble
And ask for help from our Lord
The government can\'t fix everything
We all can\'t be wards
I hope that better times are coming
And the train gets back on track
But, hard times have been here, and may be coming back
