mother\'s daughter

i am my mother\'s daughter

in the sense that

the earth swallowed me up - whole - and left me laid bare.

we patched our nerves back together

with a little-too-loose stitch,

and were ladened with the guilt that reflected off our mirrors.

Mothers and Daughters were both born as monsters;

learning all too well of what they shove

under the bed after dark.
