In some relationships women live in fear -
This a hot topic for debate today.
Themes include a recovery from there
After she had the strength to get away.
Great – at least she escaped but many do not -
Politicians mouth with resolutions
While women die and are quickly forgot,
And the poetry here lacks solutions.
Demand more shelters and housing, do please,
There’s much legislation needed right now
Which would save some women, give more ease
Of exit than their partner would allow.
Another aspect I’d like to relate -
My observation throughout a long life:
Women and girls attach themselves to a mate
Even as they know he’s nothing but strife.
Girls – your heart\'s pit-a-pat for a male you’ve seen.
Yet men and boys will always be a mix
Of good and bad and all points in between;
Domination could be how they get their fix.
Or a man can easily say ‘I love you’
When all he is addressing are your breasts,
While you are as mature as he is true -
It\'s far too easy to see how time tests.
However, many women don’t go this way -
Strong selectivity, not awestruck,
Observation and insight win the day,
And know a partnership is more than good luck.
