It\'s after midnight so I\'ll go to bed
And try to sleep awhile
Maybe if I get a good nights sleep
I could wake up with a good morning smile
Now it\'s three am, I can\'t sleep
And I don\'t have a sleeping pill
And everything this late is closed
Except for the super center on the hill
And tonight I\'m tired of trying
To leave the days of wine and roses
And yes, you see, it\'s lucky me
\'Cause my liquor store never closes
I climb aboard my pickup truck
And gently crank it up
There\'s an empty bottle on the seat
And an empty coffee cup
There\'s no traffic at this time of night
I haven\'t met a single car
And pretty soon I\'m pulling in
To the parking lot of my all night bar
There\'s still a woman at the door
Who greets me with a smiling face
There aren\'t many other people
In this usually crowded place
I find my mouthwash pretty quick
Many times I\'ve seen this shelf
It doesn\'t take long to pay and go
And feel a lot better about myself
Acohol is alcohol
No form of it do I refuse
Anything to make me forget
Will help me lose the blues
Well, I\'m back home again
It\'s a little after four
I guess that I could try to sleep
But I don\'t want to anymore
I\'ll just mix myself a drink
Or maybe two or three
And I won\'t have to wake up sober
Or miss that smile that won\'t be there for me
Yes, alcohol is alcohol
And I guess that\'s why she left
I try but can\'t forget her
And don\'t want to help myself
