Measures

I don’t know what I’m doing here,

I don’t know why I stayed,

I figured all my measures out,

And chose the one that weighed.

The options were all stacking up,

to build a bridge to burn,

I burned the one I crossed before

and took a different turn.

Paths aren’t always what they seem,

they twist and bend and split,

But once you choose the path you’re on, you’ll have to follow it.

You’ll have the chance to change again, when you approach a fork,

And sometimes paths that are not lit,

Are better ones to walk?

So as I reach the impasse point,

I’ll have a choice to make.

Do I see where this path leads?

Or change the one I take?

The path I’m on is hard at times,

and the end might not be right,

the dawn of life is leaving me,

I should choose before its night.

Whichever path I choose I know,

Will not be straight and clear,

So carry on the way I am

Or move away from here?
