Life in Retirement

Day after day

Wake up

Lay there and wonder

What time I’ll get up

Then I’m promptly reminded

I’m on my dog’s schedule

I’ll get up when he tells me to

In his house, that’s his rule

Must clean up the yard

Fallen branches, leaves and what not

Spread that loam around

On sparsely grassy spots

And then there’s my garden

My attention is in need

A Rose of Sharon bush

I think she’d approve, yes indeed

Little statue figurines

Among colorful flowers

That patiently await

Forthcoming April showers

Do I miss my working life?

Hell no, no longer of my requirement

These days my boss wags his tail

Life in retirement
