A Heartless Homecoming

  • I remember not so vivdly,
when my soul drifted a world apart.

I turned to someone far inferior to me,
Careless, foul-mouthed, and numb to emotion.

The passage of time earned me friends undeserved.
In my complacence, they scoured for what was lost.

Their efforts proved to be in vain.

    Turned horrid, even monsters recoiled.
In my locked room, I sat with a heart of stone.

The summer\'s heat bathes me in sweat.
To feel the wind, I climb the tallest roof.

I close my eyes to hear the silence.
    Amidst the silence, a whisper.

A waft of wind strokes my skin soft
    A touch from the lost

    It moves through me
    It moves past me

    Heartless I return home
