The sun rises over the smog
Gray and bright
The cityfolk head to work
The factory pumps smoke
A city of twisting metal and cement
Winding roads filled with cars
People burning coal in their fireplaces
Not a tree in sight
Children head to school with masks
Not for any disease
To protect their lungs from the toxic air
They walk past the crematorium
The school lies just outside the city
On the way they pass a single blade of dead grass
The school is plaster white
A colorless school for a colorless world
