let

let a crow

pick the passion

right out of my eyes

and let a dove

watch from the low limb

or a power line

let a crow

caw my poems to you

from the window of your room

he’ll sing sweeter than i ever do

let a snake

show you the way

and get lost

with me today.

let me love you

when i can’t love myself.

let me love you

so we can sit alone.

the squirrels stashed my bones,

a nest was made of my hair,

the crow that picked at my eyes,

was just curious what was there,

let the rats run the railroad,

elect pigs as politicians,

let the crabs clean the hospital,

put some parrots in power positions,

let the bulls curate history museums ,

and endorse all the weasels with open hands,

let the cats run risk assessments,

and.. well i trust my dogs behavior.

emancipate all the animals in cages,

what did they ever do to get there?

let the bears build our igloos,

invite them inside,

let everyone who ever hurt you always tell you lies.

let the humans hurt each other

savage and starving

those of them that stop the fighting

will be shunned for no one can stop self harming.
