Since I was a little boy
My mother urged me, for the best:
\"Eat you greens, they\'re good for you
They will put hairs upon your chest!\"
So, when winter came along
And that season came around,
Brussel sprouts were in the shops
And on my plate they were found.
Reluctantly I at one, or two
With pepper to take the taste away.
I gulped them down with gravy
And hoped the taste wouldn\'t stay.
Many years later, and that memory
Still lingers in my mind,
But, of brussel sprouts virtues?
Perhaps I must be blind.
Now, as for a bowl of mussels
Marinating in white wine
I can enjoy them any day
Their taste is so divine.
In a fine restaurant
In Cornwall or Jersey maybe
You will find me devouring
This delicious delicacy.
Mussels or brussel sprouts?
There really is no choice
The sight of a bowl mussels
Makes my heart rejoice!
Perhaps I ought to have listened
To my mother who knew the best
But, there\'s just one problem -
I still don\'t have hair on my chest!
