my mother in the corner

there is something so suffocating about

a nearly empty room.

where my mother is in the corner

waiting to see me,

but her eyes are closed while she calls out.

darkness is deceiving: it makes you see things that

aren\'t really there.

like a human-shaped pile of clothes

or

a girl who can write about

more than just her sadness.
