The Modern Mask

We wear a mask of good and fine,

not sad, not happy either

Our disposition stagnant, benign,

a mask, not good nor evil

No use in faking happy,

when happy isn’t standard

No peaks nor any valleys

a total loss of candor

We wear a mask to shield us

our enthusiasm gone

expected to conform, thus,

we are robots when the mask is on
