Cheeky Missy

...and T\'was Memorial Day, Whence THIS.

I Maunt Sleep When The Sun Shines Is\'t?

(sonnet #MMMMMMMMCCCLXXXVI)

Ere that the day melts off or is lost hence
To night, while mem\'ries linger yet, though frail
As dearest light, or dreams thus swallow pale
Joys\' sweetness, oh! What should I say? Suspense
Tricked out by children\'s happy voices dense
In pleasures begs I linger to avail
My soul before the darkness steals aught, hale
With what, precisely, that I want defense?
I am confused, half clinging to as t\'were
These measures like I could retain them to
What, eh? Restore my soul?! The war in tour
Waged \'cross the years, unseen but never new,
Leaves littered corpses wind cannot bestir
To life afresh \'cept Thou, LORD, save us too.
