You give me a place to stay in your home
You let me use your yard to dig for treasure
You share your cramped grey couch with me when we’re alone
You feed me small pellets of food in a bowl shaped like a bone
I protect you through the perilous jungle you call a city with hairless gorillas,
I travel with you through the mini dessert you call a beach,
You accompany me through the dog park to meet other pugs
You walk me through the dizzying forest of skyscrapers with rats that look like cats.
I protect you against the loud bombs on wheels
You save me against the constant explosions on the Fourth of July
I let you rub my belly when you breathe in a panicky tone
You comfort me during my yearly shots at the vet
You are my first and last thought each day
You are my world
You are my everything
You are my master
