On his gravestone it will state
The years he was alive
That little dash between the two
Is where his life resides
That time is short, it goes by fast
It\'s easy to ignore
The time we have with each other
We always think there\'s more
My dad has lived out his dash
He lived a life so grand
Yet took the time to be my dad
To give me everything he had
He showed me love, he took the time
To teach me right from wrong
Now my dash has, his strength and love
Even though he\'s gone
Through the rest of my own dash
I can only hope to be
Half as good as this man was
Half as good he was to me
At his dash, there should be a space
Something written down below
That this man lived and to his son
He is a true hero
