I saw my daughter in the schoolyard
And I knew I could not shout
Knowing in the deepest of places
It would upset her.
I observed her in that line
Many children locked in laughter
But she was not joking
She looked older and tired
And still I could not shout
Only my soul screamed in pain.
Slowly they marched inside
Like young soldiers to war
And my heart went with her
But still I kept that twisting silence
As the last child slipped into school
I realised I was no fool..in silence.
