When She Finally Flew

When She Finally Flew

As she looked through the glass window to wave bye one more time

Before her odyssey down that road, not the one less travelled by.

It was just her rendition of every modern nomadic tale.

When she finally flew, she wondered what it’s like to hop off the plane at LAX.

As the boiling waves replaced the golden leaves for her warm welcome,

Crests at the Shores comforted the burning core.

The morning of her commencement, the auditorium perplexed her with a theatre,

It was a rigorous battle with melatonin thereafter.

When she finally flew, she was also a Triton.

As she savoured pad kee mao and devoured ramen in the land of dreams,

She longed for the wafts of aroma from the land of mysticism.

In her uncharted territory, she embraced love in different forms,

Sometimes through a mischievous toddler and sometimes a playful retriever.

Yet, she yearned for warmth from beyond the horizon.

When she finally flew, she realized one can be at liberty but still shed tears.

As she immersed herself in the romantic hues of the dipping sun,

She introspected her journey so far.

She had conquered the trails she once dared to tread,

And at times wearily swayed to her abode.

She had culminated the symphony of spices

Yet had been duped by the swirling chai endlessly.

She smiled through the memories of numerous such juxtapositions

Since the time she had glanced through the glass window.

Through all the ups and downs and twists and turns, she stayed the course.

When she finally flew, she embodied a persona she couldn’t let go.

After she finally flew, she knew she had embodied the persona she wouldn’t ever let go.
