Sincere Service

Tune: Melcombe

(New every morning is the love\')

* First line from a sonnet by John Milton (1608-1674)

*********

They also serve who [only] stand and wait*

They always ready, not be late

Enabled by the Spirit\'s power

To meet the tasks of every hour

For even the Lord came to serve

Though His service we not deserve

To do some deed, some word to speak

Our service e\'er be humble, meek

Attending unto poor, needy

Of those around us who we see

Share something of Christ\'s life and love

By His Spirit, the gracious dove

So e\'en if one [person] a day comes near

To know more of the Saviour dear

It will be one, better than none

Some kind at, word, through Christ be done

And in the church, the fellowship

Of believers, in deed and lip* (*word)

Sharing community, grace free

Growing to what Christ have us be

By your grace at the end times we

Among the blessed sheep shall we be

We who did serve you in the least [person]

You invite such to your great feast
