The Devil Within

You\'ve become an imposter,

You\'ve taken her soul,

My Mum belongs there,

Not this vacuous hole.

Her body remains but her mind has long gone,

The memories we shared and the light that once shone,

Is now but a remnant of a life gone before,

A life that was so full with her at its core.

Alzheimer\'s, the devil, the tyrant within,

Has taken my Mum and declared it a win.

She\'s lost in transmission, her signal is weak,

Just every so often she gives us a peek.

The woman that was is deep down inside,

My Mum the formidable woman with pride,

She\'ll fight you, she\'ll damn you before she\'ll let go,

You\'re fighting a woman who knows how to glow.

She\'s battled through life, she fought and she\'s won,

You\'re no match for her when all\'s said and done.

You can\'t take the memories we hold in our minds,

Of a Mother so loved, she\'s one of a kind.

I feed her, I bathe her because of your ruin,

Her body is broken, because of your doin\'

She will be remembered and she will be loved,

Long after she\'s gone and flying above.

Her mind will restore, with all from before,

Her body will heel, she\'ll once again feel,

She\'ll remember her loved ones and will once again,

Be back to the person you tried detain.

Her mind will be freed, away from your greed

Your hunger, your evil insatiable need

To destroy and blight wherever you go,

Alzheimer\'s be gone with the devil you know.
