The Climb

The days are long, the nights are equally as long
I work so hard, it\'s become a sport
My drive and passion once so bold
Now it\'s faded, I need to be told

My spark that once fueled
Is now left atop a mountain

The climb I begin,
Aggrandized the mountain stands
The smallest of steps
Feel invigorating,

I feel the baggage I carry
It weighs me down,
Yet I keep climbing,
Yet I keep trying.

But it\'s never enough.

Climbing Everest seems easier
It seems easier
Than to keep climbing
In this life of mine.

The end is close
Closer than the night
But I am instantly pulled
Pulled right down
Till the Valley.

Now I wonder if
It was worth it.
Worth all the pain.
Worth all the lost sleep.
Disheartened I stand. I smell
The flowers that surround me.

Again, I start the climb.
I see the celestial fireball in the sky.
Rising above all.

Soon, I find myself
At the top, reunited
With the flame, I once lost.
