July By The Mountains
The skylarks are singing as upwards they fly
Above the mountains of Duhallow and Sliabh Luachra in Summery July
When the tiny blue fruits of the heather the bilberry are ripe for to eat
In the taste buds of the mouth they are a tasty treat
Above the high fields in the blue and grey sky
With the sun on their dark wings chirping as they fly
In pursuit of flying insects barn swallows at the speed of a car
Migratory birds who in their lifetimes do travel far
It has inspired the writers of song, story and rhyme
July by the mountains in the Summer\'s prime
On what is a beautiful and green time of year
The familiar call of the cuckoo one often does hear
In July by the ageless mountains far away
Nature is at her finest in truth one can say.
