Charlie Farmer

Your coat in the puddle

A fish out of water

Washed over, a drowned rat

Shaken, overpoured, overpriced

Sickly and cold, once overdue, wondering why?

Droplets trickling down

Down to the gates

Lamplight eyes

Clout then cries

Brutalist sophistic

Try to smile it through

Just like you used to

What if you stay?

Trample, if you may

Your coat in the puddle

When fabric and want collides

Unable to mingle, faithful muddle

Throwback in favour, treasure slides

Guardian angel with bent wings

In my hour of need

“What do I do” I plead

Damp mascara

Worn out blade

The pen is mightier

Tied cement, cinder demise

Destined never to rise

Flicker dim heart

Abstract art

Burned over and trodden

Ink runs off when they all say farewell

A new page? Dead in the water

Your coat in the puddle
