The All-Nite Cafe

The All-Nite Cafe

I’m on my way back home to that quiet solitude

but still, I will send fresh flowers to you.

Yesterday, there was a fire in the sky, a morning sunrise.

Life was full of wonder, I saw an Eagle fly.

You have a worried mind, counting your nickels and dimes.

It will hurt you inside until the sun refuses to shine.

The seas will run high, and loneliness will float on the brine.

Wish you’d change your mind and come to watch my sunrise.

You could have your way, but I would need your love in return.

You mean everything to me, that won’t change

but I have scars from when you said goodbye

and there are things I cannot rearrange.

I was a fool, and now I know our love was a lie.

Gave away my heart too soon, when I died within your devil-eyes.

Are you lonesome too, and are your skies wet with rain?

In love’s foolish game I face tomorrow’s pain.

I have prayed that our love could be relit

like when you used to shout my name.

Yet now, the look in your eyes isn’t the same

but I’ll be there, when you’re about to quit.

I’ll love and comfort you with tenderness.

When the stars fall down from the sky

and make the starlight in your eyes

the love you try to hide will be my happiness.

Today, I let my lover’s heart run away.

It’s time for us to part. It’s beginning to rain.

Ever since you broke my heart, I try to keep my tears away.

Lonely girl, I no longer need you to ease my pain.

Tell me, have you ever felt the pain of teardrops?

If you come to me, my love for you will never fade.

Here in this all-night cafe, I read again your letter

and still, my love grows until I love all of you.

Happiness is an illusion at two o’clock in the morning.
